ePIC 2024 Highlights Open Recognition and Digital Credentials in Paris

The ePIC 2024 conference, held in Paris, France, from November 6-8, brought together 160 participants from 20 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the USA, Canada, and several EU nations, to explore the theme of “Opening and Scaling Up Digital Credential Initiatives.”

A key highlight was the presentation of the ENCORE project by Serge Ravet, founding member and president of the Reconnaître—Open Recognition Alliance. Ravet shared insights through a poster session focused on the outcomes of building communities of practice to support open recognition.

The conference concluded with a significant milestone: participants signed the “Paris Declaration on the Equality of Recognitions.” This declaration emphasizes the recognition of informal, semi-formal, and formal learning and was informed by lessons from the ENCORE project and other initiatives led by the Reconnaître—Open Recognition Alliance.

ePIC 2024 successfully showcased innovative approaches to digital credentials, fostering collaboration and advancing the global conversation on open recognition.
