Success at the AlmaLabor Workshop organized by University of Pisa: Exploring Generative AI in Course Design!

We are thrilled to share that on January 8, 2025, the University of Pisa (Filippo Chiarello, and Vito Giordano) successfully organized a workshop at AlmaLabor, University of Bologna, where we tested the ENCORE platform and explored how Generative AI can be integrated into course design for engineering education!

What was the focus?
The workshop tackled the challenges educators face in keeping up with the rapid evolution of AI technologies. Traditional course design processes often struggle to adapt to these changes, but ENCORE provided a solution—leveraging Natural Language Processing (NLP), Generative AI, and Open Educational Resources (OERs) to streamline course development and align with recognized skill taxonomies like ESCO.

Key Highlights from the Workshop:
✅ Hands-on exploration of the ENCORE platform
✅ Brainstorming and rapid prototyping of AI-integrated engineering modules
✅ Adapting Open Educational Resources (OERs) to enhance digital learning
✅ Engaging discussions on AI-driven certification processes

The workshop brought together educators, tutors, and researchers interested in integrating AI into engineering education. Participants actively engaged in skill-centric course design and explored how Generative AI can support learning pathways.

Why does this matter?
This event demonstrated the potential of AI in education by showing how digital tools can support teachers in creating innovative learning experiences while ensuring alignment with evolving industry skills.

A huge thank you to AlmaLabor, University of Bologna, and all participants who contributed to making this workshop a success! We look forward to continuing this conversation and further advancing the integration of AI in education.
